For my individual research project I chose to research, write an essay and produce a project on dynamic difficulty adjustment (DDA). The essay looked into the different implementations of DDAs and how this can effect player retention and overall playtime.
The practical aspect of the assignment allowed me to create a basic implementation of a DDA system within unity. This demo would see the player dodging obstacles and the more obstacles the player dodged the faster the subsequent obstacles would move.
My overall grade for this module was a first (A) and the essay section of this assignment was nominated for the 'Best Research and Innovation' award at the university's award ceremony.
